[UPDATED: April 22, 2022]

It’s no secret that motherhood is the hardest job of life.

Most days there is so much to do, you don’t even know which way is up anymore. Being a mom is a special something that you love it and can hate it at the same time. (Guilty.)

But I have always been the kind of person to make light of the situation and find a bit of humor in whatever you do or go through. Here is a roundup of my favorite mom humor letterboards that have me stop my scroll on Pinterest and give me a giggle or two.

These are all relatable and that’s why I love them so much. You will see me posting these types of letterboards on my Instagram Stories almost every day. So follow me @onetopknotmama if you want more of these!

Sometimes success is just getting the laundry into the dryer before the mildew sets in.

Or just wash it a second time and get to it later…

I just love how cereal never lets you down. Like you're 7 years old watching cartoons - cereal. You're an exhausted mother who's not cooking dinner because those tiny heathens won't eat it anyway - cereal.

And if you wait long enough to decide what to make for dinner, cereal is a definite crowd pleaser all around.

Totally relatable. You gotta cross the legs when you laugh…or sneeze…after having kids, am I right??

If it can’t be washed in the laundry (even hand wash only is pushing it) or at least top rack safe for the dishwasher, just don’t buy it.

Messy hair, don't care. Actually, I do. But motherhood has lowered my standards. Like a lot.

It’s just part of my look now.

Potato, pot-ah-toe. Tomato, to-mah-toe. If they whine, I wine.

I drink coffee because without it I'm basically a 2 year old whose blankie is in the dryer.

Pretty much. Even worse if you let that mildew set in! (Reference from first picture)

Many, many times.

I wish I was as tired as I thought I was before I had kids.

Have you heard of a swear jar? I started a Mom jar. The kids have to put in $1 every time they say "Mom." I'm up to $59 million. We started 30 minutes ago.

I have a neurological illness, called CIDP, that has turned my life upside down, and I have created this blog to have a little spot on the internet to share with you my life as a busy mama who loves to shop, eat, drink & be merry! So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and enjoy your time with me here at One Top Knot Mama. Cheers, friend!

Five years ago today — January 6, 2021 — I was lay Five years ago today — January 6, 2021 — I was laying in bed with my two little boys, just 4 and 8 years old, and we watched something unfold on TV that I never imagined they’d see in their childhood.

I can still remember the way the room felt.
Heavy. Confusing. Quiet in a way that didn’t feel safe.

They kept asking me questions I didn’t know how to answer — questions no child should have to ask about their own country. And while I tried to be calm and reassuring, inside I felt scared… heartbroken… and honestly, a little shattered.

That day changed something in me as a mom.

It made me realize how fragile things can be.
How quickly “normal” can feel uncertain.
How much our kids absorb — even when we wish they wouldn’t.

Five years later, my boys are older — and so much more aware of the world around them. We’ve had countless conversations about kindness, respect, truth, and what it means to do the right thing when it’s hard.

And even though that day still stings when I think about it… I also carry something else alongside it:

Hope.

Hope in the helpers and the peacemakers.
Hope in raising boys who choose empathy over anger.
Hope in the quiet strength of ordinary people who believe in better.

I can’t erase what we saw.
But I can teach them how to respond to a world that isn’t always gentle — with compassion, courage, and integrity.

Here’s to raising kids who heal what’s broken instead of adding to the damage… who stand for good… and who know that the future is something we hold — and protect — together. 💛
