Hey, Onetopknot Mama tribe! 🧡 Does anyone else feel like they blinked and suddenly the month is over? Between mom life, work, and everything in between, it’s easy to get swept up in the chaos and miss out on time to just pause. That’s why I’m obsessed with doing a monthly reset with a little journaling action. Think of it as a “reset” button for your mind—a chance to reflect on what happened, what went well, and what didn’t (hello, missed workout goals!) while giving ourselves grace and space to refocus.

This month, I’ve whipped up a free printable with 47 prompts designed to help you reset your mindset and realign with your goals. If you’re ready to start the next month with a clear head, you’re in the right place.

Why a Monthly Reset?

We all know life as a mom means multitasking 24/7. You’ve got kid schedules, family events, maybe work commitments, and if you’re lucky, a little time for yourself. But setting aside intentional time each month to sit down, breathe, and reflect can work wonders. Think of it as a little “you-time” that lets you celebrate what you’ve achieved, release what didn’t work, and set fresh intentions.

Not only does this help us show up better for our families, but it also helps us stay in tune with our personal goals and make adjustments where needed. And let’s face it—mama, we all need a little realignment now and then!

Taking time to reset each month is like hitting refresh for our minds and hearts. For busy moms, carving out even a little journaling time can be a powerful form of self-care. It’s not just about reflecting on what happened—it’s a way to reconnect with yourself, honor your wins, and get clear on your goals. Below, you’ll find our unique collection of prompts to help you close out the month and start fresh with intention.

And because I know life gets hectic, I’ve created a free printable for you to grab and make this practice even easier.

1. Reflecting on Last Month’s Experiences

Reflection is key to understanding what truly makes us feel fulfilled and what drains us. These prompts help you see what’s working and what might need a change.

  • Why It Matters: Reflecting helps us process our experiences and learn from them, fostering emotional resilience and awareness[2].

Prompts:

  • What went well this month?
  • What challenges did I face?
  • How did I take care of myself this month?

2. Celebrating Accomplishments

Recognizing and celebrating achievements, no matter the size, boosts confidence and motivation. This isn’t just for major milestones; the little wins matter, too.

  • Why It Matters: Celebrating wins helps reinforce positive habits and reminds us to appreciate our journey[5].

Prompts:

  • What am I most proud of this month?
  • How did I step out of my comfort zone?
  • Who supported me, and how did I feel?

3. Letting Go of Setbacks and Unhelpful Patterns

It’s important to acknowledge the things that didn’t go as planned. Understanding these moments helps us avoid similar patterns and focus on moving forward.

  • Why It Matters: Identifying setbacks with compassion allows us to release negativity and focus on positive change[4].

Prompts:

  • What disappointed me?
  • Is there a habit I want to leave behind?
  • How can I approach this differently next month?

4. Setting New Goals and Intentions

After reflecting on the past, it’s time to think about the future. Setting intentions helps focus our energy on what matters most in the month ahead.

  • Why It Matters: Goals align us with our values, helping us to live with more purpose and clarity[2].

Prompts:

  • What’s one goal I have for next month?
  • How do I want to feel by the end of the month?
  • What small steps will support my goal?

5. Practicing Gratitude

Starting each month with gratitude keeps us grounded in the present and helps shift our focus from what we lack to what we have.

  • Why It Matters: Practicing gratitude reduces stress, boosts happiness, and fosters a more positive outlook[3].

Prompts:

  • Who or what am I grateful for?
  • What brought me joy?
  • What’s one unexpected blessing?

Meet Jackie

Hello! I'm a wife, mom of 2 boys, coffee and wine lover who lives in the Nashville, TN area. After growing up in Chicago and moving to St. Louis for 6 years, we decided that Music City was our new home! I have a neurological illness, called CIDP, that has turned my life upside down, and I have created this blog to have a little spot on the internet to share with you my life as a busy mama who loves to shop, eat, drink & be merry! So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and enjoy your time with me here at One Top Knot Mama. Cheers, friend!

The only somewhat cute picture I have taken this s The only somewhat cute picture I have taken this summer where sweat isn't dripping from my face or I look like a troll under a bridge. It was a busy summer. I took time away from my blog & socials to fill my cup☕️.

Going forward, I hope to still be active here on IG, but know I need time away from scrolling. I am not a fashionista. I am a shorts & tee girl, messy bun, my hair is mostly dry shampoo by the time Friday rolls around. I don't wear fake nails or eyelashes. It's just not me.

The mental mind f*ck that is social media tried to get me to be someone I am not. I am finding that I enjoy writing on my blog more. Creating printables, worksheets, checklists, gift guides etc than posing in outfits I buy specifically for content that I don't even feel comfortable in.

There are better women than me on here that do a great job of this, and I get huge doses of imposter syndrome. I was spiralling. Never feeling good enough. And that just isn't healthy.

I also don't want to be tone deaf. I know our country is in crisis right now, thanks to our so-called "leaders." If you support our current administration, please just unfollow me now. I know families are struggling to put food on the table. I know parents are choosing between paying the bills or medicine. Kids are watching as their parents are dragged away by masked men. And the list goes on and on.

I just don't have it in me anymore. I'm exhausted. And my kids need me now more than ever as we are navigating 4th & 7th grades. So if you're still here, thank you. Please check out my blog, sign up for my emails because I am very more active there!

My goal is to continue to spread positivity and relatable content to other moms, resources to help you in everyday life, and to use my space as a creative outlet to fill my cup up.

I appreciate you all. Here is a recommendation if you're in the Nashville area, try @brunchcollectivetn for some amazing coffee, food and atmosphere!

Happy September, talk soon.
