Hey there, mama! 🌟 Happy New Year! The holiday season has finally ended, kids are back to school, so now it’s time to focus on you. Recharging after the festive season is essential to regain your energy and embrace the new year with enthusiasm. I don’t know about you but after all the family gatherings, school events, music programs, Christmas parties and gift shopping, I am mentally drained. I could not add one more thing to my plate. Here are 5 ways to recharge after the busy holiday season to help you bounce back and feel your best.
BONUS: My New Years Resolutions for 2025 (at the end of this post)
1. Prioritize Restful Sleep
The excitement and late nights of the holiday season can disrupt our sleep patterns, leaving us feeling drained. Prioritizing quality sleep is essential for restoring energy and overall well-being. Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. Establishing a calming bedtime routine—like reading a book, taking a warm bath, or practicing gentle stretches—can signal your body that it’s time to wind down. Creating a sleep-conducive environment by keeping your bedroom cool, dark, and free from electronic devices also promotes better rest.
2. Engage in Calming Physical Activity
Physical activity is a natural energy booster and mood enhancer. Incorporate gentle exercises like yoga, walking, or stretching into your daily routine to help alleviate post-holiday fatigue. These activities improve circulation, release endorphins, and reduce stress levels. Even a 20-minute walk outdoors can do wonders for your mental clarity and physical vitality.
3. Practice Mindfulness and Meditation
After the holiday chaos, grounding yourself through mindfulness can bring a sense of calm and clarity. Set aside a few minutes each day for meditation or deep-breathing exercises. These practices help center your thoughts, reduce anxiety, and enhance emotional well-being. Apps like Headspace or Calm offer guided sessions tailored for busy moms.
4. Set Healthy Boundaries
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when juggling family, work, and personal commitments. Learning to say “no” and setting healthy boundaries is crucial for maintaining your sanity and energy levels. Be realistic about what you can handle, and don’t hesitate to delegate tasks or decline additional responsibilities. Remember, taking care of yourself enables you to take better care of others.
5. Indulge in Self-Care Activities
Treat yourself to activities that bring joy and relaxation. Whether it’s indulging in a favorite hobby, taking a long bath, or enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, these moments of self-care are vital for recharging your spirit. Consider setting aside dedicated “me time” each week to engage in these activities without guilt.
My favorite hobbies include coloring, puzzles and learning to crochet!
BONUS: My New Years Resolutions for 2025
- Read 100 books (Yes, you read that right! I am already on book # 3!)
- Read the Bible in its entirety via the Bible App (There are plans to help you read just 15 minutes a day, it’s makes it a lot less overwhelming.)
- Get physical exercise 3 times a week (and try to lose 30 lbs) by walking, yoga, pilates, etc.
- Crochet 1 thing a month (I did my first Wooble and I’m addicted! I can’t wait to do the next one)
- Take 1 class a month and never stop learning (There’s a lot to know when it comes to blogging and owning your own Etsy shop. Coursera, Google, Skillshare, Udemy, HubSpot Academy, Girls in Marketing and more!)
Remember, mama, recharging after the holiday hustle isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. By incorporating these practices into your routine, you’ll find yourself rejuvenated and ready to embrace the new year with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Here’s to a great 2025!
