Easter is just around the corner, and for many parents, that means putting together an Easter basket for their kids. While candy is a popular choice, there are plenty of other fun and creative options to consider that won’t fill your child up with sugar.

Here are some Easter basket ideas for kids that aren’t candy:

  1. Books: Whether your child loves to read or is just starting to explore books, an Easter basket is the perfect opportunity to add to their collection. Consider age-appropriate books that match your child’s interests, such as picture books for younger children or chapter books for older kids.
  2. Art Supplies: Encourage your child’s creativity with an Easter basket filled with art supplies, such as markers, crayons, colored pencils, and coloring books. You could even include some fun crafting supplies, like pom poms or googly eyes, to inspire your child’s imagination.
  3. Outdoor Toys: Spring is the perfect time to get outside and play, so consider adding some outdoor toys to your child’s Easter basket. Ideas include jump ropes, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, or even a kite.
  4. Stuffed Animals: Who doesn’t love a cuddly stuffed animal? Whether your child has a favorite animal or you’re introducing them to a new one, a soft and snuggly stuffed animal can be a great addition to an Easter basket.
  5. Bath Toys: Bath time can be a fun and playful experience with the right toys. Consider adding some bath toys to your child’s Easter basket, such as rubber ducks, boats, or water squirters.
  6. Games: Games can be a great way to spend quality time together as a family, so consider adding a new board game or card game to your child’s Easter basket. This can be a fun way to introduce your child to new games and activities.
  7. Accessories: From jewelry to hair accessories to sunglasses, there are plenty of fun and stylish accessories that can be added to an Easter basket. This is a great opportunity to let your child express their personal style and interests.
  8. Gardening Tools: Spring is the perfect time to get outside and start a garden. Encourage your child’s green thumb with an Easter basket filled with kid-sized gardening tools, seeds, and a watering can.
  9. Puzzles: Puzzles are a great way to exercise your child’s brain and improve their problem-solving skills. Add a puzzle or two to your child’s Easter basket, and watch them spend hours working on it.
  10. Musical Instruments: If your child loves music, why not add a musical instrument to their Easter basket? A small keyboard, xylophone, or even a kazoo can be a fun and entertaining addition.
  11. Science Kits: Encourage your child’s curiosity with a science kit. Whether it’s a kit to build a volcano or a set to grow crystals, there are plenty of options to choose from that will keep your child engaged and learning.
  12. Sports Equipment: If your child loves to play sports, consider adding some sports equipment to their Easter basket. A new basketball, soccer ball, or baseball glove can be a great way to encourage them to get outside and play!

Meet Jackie

Hello! I'm a wife, mom of 2 boys, coffee and wine lover who lives in the Nashville, TN area. After growing up in Chicago and moving to St. Louis for 6 years, we decided that Music City was our new home! I have a neurological illness, called CIDP, that has turned my life upside down, and I have created this blog to have a little spot on the internet to share with you my life as a busy mama who loves to shop, eat, drink & be merry! So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and enjoy your time with me here at One Top Knot Mama. Cheers, friend!

The only somewhat cute picture I have taken this s The only somewhat cute picture I have taken this summer where sweat isn't dripping from my face or I look like a troll under a bridge. It was a busy summer. I took time away from my blog & socials to fill my cup☕️.

Going forward, I hope to still be active here on IG, but know I need time away from scrolling. I am not a fashionista. I am a shorts & tee girl, messy bun, my hair is mostly dry shampoo by the time Friday rolls around. I don't wear fake nails or eyelashes. It's just not me.

The mental mind f*ck that is social media tried to get me to be someone I am not. I am finding that I enjoy writing on my blog more. Creating printables, worksheets, checklists, gift guides etc than posing in outfits I buy specifically for content that I don't even feel comfortable in.

There are better women than me on here that do a great job of this, and I get huge doses of imposter syndrome. I was spiralling. Never feeling good enough. And that just isn't healthy.

I also don't want to be tone deaf. I know our country is in crisis right now, thanks to our so-called "leaders." If you support our current administration, please just unfollow me now. I know families are struggling to put food on the table. I know parents are choosing between paying the bills or medicine. Kids are watching as their parents are dragged away by masked men. And the list goes on and on.

I just don't have it in me anymore. I'm exhausted. And my kids need me now more than ever as we are navigating 4th & 7th grades. So if you're still here, thank you. Please check out my blog, sign up for my emails because I am very more active there!

My goal is to continue to spread positivity and relatable content to other moms, resources to help you in everyday life, and to use my space as a creative outlet to fill my cup up.

I appreciate you all. Here is a recommendation if you're in the Nashville area, try @brunchcollectivetn for some amazing coffee, food and atmosphere!

Happy September, talk soon.
